Introductory Remarks One of the most central issues I see within modern Christology lies with the problem of making Jesus more understandable and relevant to the minds of today. Can we, therefore speak about Jesus from a Western mind-set in a meaningful way? Through advances and enhancements that come with a modern age, I believe that we are in a more balanced position now to question whether the Christ of history necessarily ?fits our current reality. Therefore, this poses the need to rethink the nature of Jesus and what we can ascertain from the Christ of faith for our current humanity and those yet to come.. Don’t waste time! Our writers will create an original "Appropriating Jesus For The Modern Mind" essay for you Create order To ensure a pluralistic nature of modern Christology, I view the input of areas such as history, philosophy and science necessary in order to construct a coherent picture of Christ. Pannenberg stated that the most important task of Christology is to present the reasons for the confessions of Jesus divinity- we can see this portrayed through interpreting the personage of Christ which can be intelligible for the world today by making the knowledge accessible to both non-Christians and Christians alike. Approaches to Christology Methodologically speaking, two fundamental concepts arise from 20th Century Christology and these are being and time. Pannenberg works from the basis of abstract theological concepts which he uses to search for the meaning of Jesus personal history- he uses the phrase intrinsic intelligibility here to discern what he means by the ?facts of this process. Pannenbergs emphasis throughout is on the resurrection and its connotations of an eschatological event. Pannenberg is criticised for focusing too much on the ?time and not enough on the ?being aspects of Christology and instead, for the modern mind, we should aim to find a more focused Christology, more relational to dogmatics and experience for example. Balthasar has a strong sense that the Logos is the fundamental beginning of Christology- one may not affiliate themselves with this view but perhaps a more universal understanding would come from his reservation of the centre of Christology surrounding the mystery of being, time and love- He deems these three features to be those around which we can build up our own understanding of who and what Jesus is for us in this modern setting and how we, as followers of the Lord, are in coherence with Him. Both the Christ of history and the Christ of faith have revelatory undertones to highlight the way for appropriate Christian conduct and through adhering to this, shows the way for them to become the ultimate humanity. In this way, Rahner would say that Christology is the beginning and the end of anthropology. Pannenberg believes the rise in coherence between the anthropological and Christological disciplines means we recognise the fundamental importance of anthropology when considering religion and whether we can apply this to what we deem as the modernities of today. O Collins states that Christology is the theological interpretation of Jesus Christ, clarifying systematically who and what he is in himself- also emphasising the ontological concerns behind the conjecture of Christology. I believe that soteriology does affiliate with this view but also leaves space for some more personal questions which could be used in the modern context such as; Who am I in relation to Christ? Designating a proper place for the soteriological approach is one of the problems with modern Christology, although in this view, it would be impossible to draw a complete distinction between the two. Pannenberg supports this with the recognition that throughout the history of Christology we can see the developments having been determined by particular soteriological interests. The Resurrection of Jesus Moltmann would say that Christology is no more than the beginning of eschatology and eschatology is always the consummation of Christology. Pannenberg also brings to light issues in the way he views the resurrection as the embodiment of the end of history. Salvation, for him is obtained when the destiny of man becomes identical with his present existence, where man is united in his present with his past and his future. It is clear, of course, that there are other meanings and implications of the resurrection of Christ which Pannenberg overlooks. For example, the notion that love transcends all and can triumph even over death, giving humanity hope, a concept integral to life as whole, not merely for eternal life with God. ?Beginning at the end, as Pannenberg does here, causes the adoption of an a-historical position and Pannenbergs ?from ahead method- his concern for upholding soteriology- have led to a somewhat exclusionary focus towards the Cross. This is something which, to some extent, has been over-compensated for by Moltmann who focuses his Christology on the crucified Christ encompassing humanitys suffering through the entirety of history. For Moltmann, the shift from hope in the future to a present concern with praxis and justice leads to a political theology of the Cross. Moltmanns focus on the cross and soteriological implications of such, have aimed to make Jesus more relevant and intelligible for the minds of today. Philosophically speaking, Bultmanns programme of demythologisation- taken here to mean reinterpreting the myth- regards the resurrection as a useful myth that expresses the significance of the Cross providing abilities for atonement and self-revelation. In order to bring the Jesus of history into the modern times, we are required to find the centrality of the kerygmatic message. The Kerygma serves somewhat as a mediator for the process of atonement and self-revelation which ultimately challenges humanity to live their best lives. Bultmanns work, therefore, can be seen to provide a bridge between disciplines and from this grows a coherence between Christology and the individual believer. Few scholars are actually willing to commit to the somewhat reductionist notion of Jesus as the Kerygmatic Christ. This causes, for example, Bultmanns heirs to reject the Incarnation on the basis that for Jesus to be fully human, we need to remove the concept of divinity. The weakness of this, however, is that it effectively removes all elements of mystery, power and glory, making it difficult to emphasise the individuality of Christ over other such individuals of the same stature. Rahner would seek to overcome this criticism by interpreting the two-fold involvement of God with the world and human beings- this would ultimately retain the essence of mystery, yet presents the interpretation in an understandable way for the modern mind. His Christology incorporates an evolutionary structure along with dynamism to highlight the nature and goal of human life, also showing that Jesus role is to distribute grace through his orientation towards God. Thus, through avoiding the direct use of terms such as ?Incarnation he is able to reinterpret the content in a more historically and scientifically plausible manner for the humanity of today to affiliate with. The Search for Continuity Through these debates, there is a resultant lack of continuity regarding the person of Jesus. I would like to address this briefly here with consideration to possible ways of regaining continuity between the human and divine. The discontinuity between the Jesus of History and the Christ of Faith is one of the fundamental concerns of modern Christology. Due to the notion of the Scandal of the Cross, which we know of from Pre-Easter faith, there seems to be a divide presented between the Christ of history and the Christ of faith For example, Bultmann stated that it is the Christ of the Kerygma and not the person of the historical Jesus who is the object of faith, however, in the modern climate, we better understand the Christ of history and the Christ of faith in regards to the personage of Christ- what he did and what he taught for example. Through seeking continuity, we must be careful not to denigrate Christology to a lesser position. To simply reduce Jesus to a ?mere man is something which inevitably aids our modern conception of Christ, but also by doing so, we are guilty of adhering to the very denigration we wish to avoid. Pannenberg would respond by saying that perhaps the most effective way to establish continuity between the Jesus of History and the Christ of Faith is to emphasise the Christology behind Jesus words and deeds, and it should not be forgotten that the continuity between Jesus and the apostolic kerygma consists in the fact that Jesus community designated and brought to expression the claim of Jesus in the only way possible at that time by its confession of him as Messiah and Son of God. To bring this into todays context, however, it is necessary to recognise the leverage that terms such as ?incarnate Logos have and that these events remain not just rooted in history but are carried forward into the worship we see today- this highlights that the revelatory undertones of the Incarnation cannot merely be ignored. Implications for our Modern Context The 20th Century saw a shift for the historical Jesus to be made more intelligible for the modern mind, not only for those of the geographical modern world, so to speak, but also for the discussions pertaining to historical accuracies. Thompson stated that historical studies indicate that the gospels are not historical biographies and seem to be a mixture of fact and fiction. This state of affairs raises questions for many thoughtful people, and the Jesus quest is a way of addressing these issues- thus, by seeking the intelligible nature of Christ we, today, are continuing to learn from and preach the good news of Jesus Christ. Perhaps the most appropriate way of following this ?new quest is to apply the historical approaches of Christology to the unity between the Jesus of history and the Christ of faith. There is a carried link between Jesus death and resurrection through to the disciples post Easter faith and again into the modern minds of today. This affirmation, however, relies on the understanding that the resurrection, as previously stated by Pannenberg, is a historical event and not a fantasy. Bultmann rejects this idea with Rahner also being vague in his engagement but from what is known about the events surrounding the resultant Easter faith, believers attest that something miraculous did indeed occur. St Paul would support this with the statement that if Christians jettison the resurrection in the name of reason, or science, or what not, then our faith is in vain As previously mentioned, the concepts of being and time also highlight problems for the modern Christological search for the intelligible Jesus as they have been inadequately devised. It is also worth noting that despite the enlightened outlook of scholars such as Moltmann or Pannenberg, there still remains an oversight concerning the life of Jesus. Bultmann, for example, would justify this oversight by claiming that it is not this simple as we can know almost nothing concerning the life and personality of Jesus. However, even Bultmann did come to admit that such a ?new quest could produce results, he remained fixed with his emphasis on the kerygma. Where Bultmann neglects the past, Pannenberg overemphasises the future, and Jesus proleptic nature, as O Collins would say, to the extent that he ignored the miracles and other prominent themes of Jesus life. Our Christological synthesis of the modern mind therefore, shows support for this new quest and has proven here to contribute much aside from mere criticism. Concluding Remarks In summary, modern minds today tend to accept that Gods revelation is found in Christ Himself- an epitome of divine love. Through this, we are aiming for a balanced approach, using all disciplines, to highlight not just the ?norm but also the views of ?the other. Continuing into the future we aspire to achieve a realist Christology, drawing on justice but also experience and history which we gain in the very beginning from the early Greek churches.

Question: Discuss about the Exploration Of American Dream. Answer: The declaration of independence and the liberty of life with their aspiring persuasion of happiness are being impacted by the American Dream. Most of the symbolism has illusionism that created a great effectiveness during the containing form of the dream. The dream is the effective input that relates with all the novels and makes a remarkable imagination can hold the owing acceleration to the study. The two selected novel "Of Mice and Men" written by John Steinbeck demonstrates the fantasy which is unattainable. In this story, the contradictory personality of two characters establish the face of opportunity and make a dream to aspire fame in their life and on the other hand a dream of wishing an acre of land which is quite contrasting but at the same time essential for him[1]. This is a trait of human life where supreme possibility is always wanted by them. As far as their status concern they are not accompanied and satisfied with their belongings. It is a dream sequence and a wise w ish that wants the better situation of existence. On the other hand "The Catcher in the Rye" was composed by J.D. Salinger has presented a hardship dream of illusion and symbolize the corruption and desire of emancipation. The feeling of a guild was there with the subsequent tone of thinking and living manifesto[2]. In Of Mice and Men, the problem situation that was raised by Steinbeck is crucial and these problems are creating impact over the study. The characters are searched in a place where those problematic situations will never arise. However, the realism and the ultimate coping with those facts is the additional outcome of the novel. The debilitating condition of a particular character has made an effective impact over the scenario[3]. Feeling of George, responsibilities on him and worrying situations are the impassive belonging that has been discussed in this novel. The problem facing the situation and hurting things is the reason behind imagination. The problems are coming up with the time that they have passed in their life. The partial intelligence of those characters makes them assure about the belongings and make trouble over the situation. The dream of land and their hopes are founding over the realistic ambition of their exploration[4]. Here, Steinbeck has made a valued and develo ped characterize over the segregation and isolated things. Things are not quite persisted or even not blessed by the almighty but these are quite established with the mind of the thinker. In this novel, the friendship was very unique and it was presented in a literal dream that they encourage their growth in life and make realistic vision to come successful. The values and matches of 1930's American society and the racism towards the novel explore the attitudes and friendship thereon[5]. In the aspect of the novel both the person have some dream but unfortunately these dreams are not true at the end of the novel. Thus dream, friendship and is the accurate reflection of American society was established in this scenario to maintain the picturesque. George and Lennie were like brothers but their dream and aspiration has stated value of American dreams. Isolation, illusion, and semblance are the unique aspects that have been presented in this scenario and that also enhance the quality o f "Of Mice and Men"[6]. On the other hand "The Catcher in the Rye" was narrated by J.D. Salinger is a systematic use of connotation. Holden, the central character of that novel did not make a good score in school and expelled. There are different scenarios when the central character gets rejected and had some fight for the belongings but the desirable nature of outcast a woman or the depressed corridor of mind has impacted over the character as well. The writer develops the story with search or findings. The finding for the pleasure, seeking for the good time that lasts for long is the concern scenario of that novel[7]. The situational effect the character had to undergo was quite difficult but the corridor of uncertainty had faced by him, stated the emphasis illusion of American dreams. Holden, the central character got annoyed when he had to face the reprimand of academic performance. The love intimacy and the desire for a woman were also established during the time. The impact of nervous output and tried to sex desire for Holden has made an impact over the novel. In the context of completing and deciding the sexual plan the vice impact of sex is very much relevant to that novel as this desire for women is very much there with the accomplishment of long hanging up and refused to serve situation[8]. As the dance sequence was demonstrated it showcases the ethnic culture of American and it supposed to be the metaphorical agenda to mix dream with it. The personification of character handling and the rewind flashback for Jane Gallagher is completely a desire or the central character. Thus recovered sex and paying five dollars to a prostitute embrace the situation crisis in his life that determine the sudden feel or need for the peculiar thing. The art that had made by Salinger has the profound need of considering outcast of the character ad it surfaces the comfort of the character[9]. The academicals aspiration and problem situations are properly handled or improperly tolerated by the ce ntral character thus apparent pushing of escapism and forced reality to stand with the American Dream. There are some escapes or expelled situation that encourages the pushing run away that take control of both the following issues that they made through the novel. The essay has shed light on the adolescence problem that Holden had been confronted through his journey from childhood to adulthood. Protection of impulsive innocence and the distorted problems with the alienation from society are the effective attributes that consolidated by the author in his writing. The concept of homosexual at the same time has provides a lenient idea about the social aspect and that emphasis on the eroticism and provided negative approach to the character Holden had met[10]. The unexpected dream and prolonged three-day adventure of whole New York are being synchronized and recover by the author in a fashion of psychiatric effect. J.D. Salinger creative production and artistic influence was quoted in this text. The considerable controversy of The Catcher in the Rye had radical social opinion that emphasis on the conservatism and has made the controversial elements like sexuality, gender discrimination, homo sex preference rather than women body, these are the sha llow materialism that has made the elevation and maintain the superficiality of manipulative attitude of the hero-narrator[11]. The human behavior of the central character was going against of decency and modesty. Protagonist materialism, inhumanity, searches for spiritual of moral highlight can match possible lovemaking sequence. The powerful abiding of illusion and adherence of corrupt, hostile and religious hypocrisy is present in this scenario to make the caustic comment over the novel[12]. The vulgar and bad language with four-letter variety and that resounded like f-word is the important profanity that encodes the shielding from the society. Thus, desperate act of eradicating old concept and bringing the display of profanity that scrawled the corruption and shows the moral kid of Holden true days. The obscenities that illustrate the binding and protect the childhood from the version of sex filled child demonstrated the reaction and threaten the quality emphasizes of contempora ry progressive series[13]. Obviously, sex is a fact that humans cannot make the denial over this fact. People are attracted to the opposite sex in general terms, and that makes a progressive series of alternative concern. Holden had not to wipe out the encounters and problems that generally come at the end of innocence, thus sufferance from this symbolism and encounters from the flickering has a reflection for the narrator himself. Salinger personal experience in trauma and influential merit of the work resembles the literary figure of Holden. Here, in this essay the constant eager for the search and defending the enlist culture of the view is being acquainted with the author. The contest of the play mid 1941, when America was in office under the war condition the representation of these times expresses the war-related theme in their wartime heroism[14]. Here, the constant changes in between the literary perspective were submerged and country's earning for the invaders are quite pr evalent form the point of view of war. So in this war going situation the life of illusion or romanticism is quite unmatchable and thus it was experienced in a different way of representation[15]. The dream and illusion with the cautious romanticism is a note of difference that was presented by the author. In this different kind of mannerism the personal experience and modeling base stories or novel are the omnipresent encapsulated form that was being presented for the sake of the humanity. Poet, writers and narrators always want that people had an ignorance attitude to the war and they represent the holy place where those war situations are not applicable rather defend in sociological manner[16]. American Dream is an anthology of those chunks of hope that suggest the illusionary meaning of life, love, and passion. In The Cather of the Rye or Mice and Men, all these are related to the dream or illusion that they perceived in their life to make a whole round of adaptive new findings. The response from the passionate two central characters their contrast, controversies, racisms and unparallel maximization of desire all these situational analyses in being done in a radical way so that appreciation form the author or the values are not put aside. An engaged memory of loneliness and projection was acquainted and pasteurized in an experimental way so that the essence of those situations prevail in this kind of illusion[17]. The communications in these sections are quite stubborn in between the characters and that signifies the communication gap in the major projection entity. American Dream has a blender notification of reflection in modernism and posts modernism[18]. This was an un due awareness that develops by the time when the war situations or the uncontrollable movements are going to attack the American scenario. The style appeared at the time of First World War and on this time the modern and postmodern genres are introduced. The self-consciousness and subjectivism are presented at that time to enhance the forming exploration and external reality that encompassed the state of awareness. In a prolific way as the states are being generated by the thoughts of old fashion development and encouragement that made traditional outbreak to get rid of those thoughts and that has grown up the prominence of American literature. The intolerance and bloodshed that was validated in those World Wars had the dreadful foundation of skeptic and suspicious outcome. The situational analysis of consummated mystery and true genre of life feel the deep displeasure for the conventional and old norms. The changes and consummated mannerism that defy the devastating essential of th eme and show must engross the sleeping pates and construct the actual form of illusion in an effective way. Possibilities and considering the individual questions and make proper answer to that is the pecuniary boom for the life. The definition of writing has been changed by the unfenced of society corruption and humiliation from the impact of traditional ethics that brought by the American writers. Literature view of the individualism and valor and resoluteness of better life is a contemporary method of understanding that comes across the positive notes of literature review. As the technologies are being changed in the 20th century and evil mannerism is detected in this literature so it was a nice and relevant understanding that made a fine outline of prosperity and facility. In Mice and Men the extract of Epic of America is being presented and imposed better and fuller interprets of dream. The conflict situation of two central characters and their prosper dream in between is the attainable regards that pursuit the facility and maintained the vision in between the gain that enhances the situation of America. Thus, the development in the quality work along with the impact of combine literature is being discussed by the author to make a quick note about the struggle of the survival. The happiness dream and fruitful composition of simple understanding have made the vision of the literature. The desire was being a superstar in silver screen and the contrasting desire for an acre of land signifies the vision of both of the desires are completely based on their standard and need. The expression and the landscapes that are designed by these novels had the sufficient trade and culture of less economical and more social influence. There are some depressed challeng es that have to overcome during the federal government of America at that point in time. Thus limited resources and imaginary mind has to introduce as the imagination has no section and after the imagination, the illusion comes in that novel. Even the replacement has been in context of changes in cultural taste and encourages the new findings however the changes need time and that substitute has made a great impression on the soul of the character[19]. The meaningful content that has blended the discoveries by the life, liberty, and ethics has the conceptualized thoughts that encourage the pursuit happiness. As the suggested form of illusion that has been created by the friendship in Mice and Men is the desire and distortion of life and expelled situation from the every sector in The Catcher in the Rye explores the human behavior and want at every juncture of life this suggests the creativity to indulge in and occupy the inner soul to make it loud and clear to personify the actual m an[20]. The Catcher in the Rye negatively criticizes the way of living in the entire society along with the American dream wherein most people look for this for the entire life. However, there are different kinds of people for whom this is a utopia and they think they cannot achieve this as well. The modern society has lost the sense of direction along with the ideals[21]. In the Mice and Men, illustrates that some of the issues that initiated the George to act wherein proper initiation have been taken in order to find a place that is suitable to work without problems and issues (). He created pressure of becoming more responsible in nature as he is fully grown up but he was lacking intelligence to take care of himself. Furthermore, they want their own place wherein they can perform whatever they want to perform and without worrying about anyone else and any such issues as well. They both wanted to live in such a place wherein they can live happily and need not worry about different causes o f problems and other things that hurt as well. According to George, he also wants a place wherein he can be the boss, there will be people who will be working under him, and he will be ordering stuff to them as well[22]. There are other instances as well that can help in understanding the reality that is required by the human beings in general in the entire society. There are different dreams of the human beings wherein they can owe a firm and sustain himself in the firm, as this would make him feel comfortable and happy, as he is the boss of the firm. The most important aspect is to awaken the different possibilities that are dreamt by the individuals in the world wherein he/she feels they cannot achieve such dreams and it is next to impossible as well. It is to be made understood to the individuals in the world that there is freedom, safety along with contentment that can be found in the world but not all the time. There are different dreams of the individuals in the whole world w herein he wants to achieve something that is unattainable in nature[23]. However, such clarifications are required to be made by the individuals that there is freedom that can be achieved in the society and it will help in achievement of goals as well[24]. Therefore, the essay can be concluded that both these novels and concepts are from the independent mindset and emphasis on the dream illusionary frame making and represent the symbolism to analyze the thing. In both the case things might go wrong at the first time but it was dramatically changed as the story shapes and makes out its stretch. The essential element of guilt and the flavor of sex are also mixed with that content[25]. The premature mindset and adolescence quite resemble with the comfort managing and vision which discussed in both the novels. Again in another one, the exploration of fantasy and the positive thinking encourage the characters to be another level up for the better desire and achievements. The contrast and the intermediate difference between the two subjective are quite prevalent as the direction of the story is quite unreachable for them. The escape situation and the overwhelming presentation of desire that they want is not being fulfilled at the end of this . So, the pursuance, traits of life and responsible aspiration are provided for the enhancement of going on the right way and approach of morality to satisfy the culture and precession of American Dream.
